With warmer weather right around the corner, it’s important that you know how to maintain your firearms despite the change in weather. Whether it’s a hot and humid day, or just dry, hot heat, your rifles’ require being taken care of with special attention. Here are some tips on how you can make sure you’re properly caring for your firearms in the warmer months.
Make sure they’re clean – If you’re a sportsman and you primarily hunt deer, your offseason is during the warmer, summer months .That leaves a few months’ time between seasons, which means that your rifle should stay clean during that time. Not properly cleaning our rifle before storing it in the offseason could cause fouling, rust, or other types of corrosion in your gun.
Put them in a case – Regardless of the temperature outdoors, it’s important to store your rifles in a locked, dry case. This is certainly important during the summer months because of the increased moisture in the air. Additionally, putting silica packets in your gun case can further help to prevent moisture from damaging your rifles.
Make sure they’re well-oiled – When you’re storing your firearms for long periods of time, it’s still very important to make sure it’s well-oiled. This helps to keep your gun protected from the elements and help to ensure it will still work properly when it comes out of storage. If you’re looking for the best selection of hunting rifles for sale online, check out our collection at AL Flaherty’s Outdoor Store today!
